Titre Test

A Titre Test is a blood test that tells us the level of immunity present, against a particular microbe. Microbes may enter the body through natural infection or in vaccines (where the microbe has been killed). When a microbe enters the body, cells of the immune system attack and neutralized the microbe by breaking it down and literally eating it.

The cells of the immune system take a reading of the composition of the microbe and print that information in a chemical form known as immunoglobulin. Immunoglobulins are produced by the immune system for each microbe. Immunoglobulins remain in the body, circulating in the blood, and can be measured with Titre Tests.

The Titre Tests tell us the concentration of immunoglobulins present in the blood, directed against a particular microbe. At low Titre Levels, we need to vaccinate to boost the immunity.
