Truly, it is not done to impress you; it has real practical purpose! Specialized language is very useful for communication among peers, so there is no ambiguity and we're sure what we are talking about. But as that specialized terminology becomes part of our vocabulary, we sometimes forget that not everyone understands what we are saying.
